The Aural Imagination	Mic Pools website. Mic is the creative director at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds, UK. His site has good guide to the basics of sound design for drama.
Aura Sound	Sound Design/Consultancy firm run by John Leonard (of the Theatre Sound book - see the books page). The 'Stuff' pages have some nuggets of info - particularly about SysEx programming of Akai Samplers.

Harada Sound	The home of Kai's Sound Hand Book (Kai Harada runs Harada sound). Best bit of this is probably the glossary of sound terms. There are also guides to the components of the sound chain.

Listen Hear	Steve Browns Web site. Steve is the Head of Sound at the Royal Exchange, Manchester. Useful info and links section aimed at UK theatre.
Mac Sound	Computer and Music services. Some useful stuff on CD burning, plus some pro audio links.

The MIDI Manufacturers Association (MMA)	All you need to know about MIDI specifications, and probably a lot more.
The Minidisc homepage	Loads of info about minidiscs, that useful theatre playback tool
The Rane Corporation	A brilliant site for general info, not just about rane products. Check out the tech notes in the library section and an A-Z glossary of audio terms. There is also a substantial booklist. Worth several days browsing.
freelanceshowstaff.com	At last! A great little Web Site by Andy Brown of Autograph, comprising a directory of Freelancers & Show Staff within the entertainment industry. .
Theatre Sound e-mail list	This is a US based list and has an atlantic slant to it, but there are a lot of UK subscribers (most of the big names in the theatre industry) and much useful information can be gleaned. To subscribe, send an e-mail to listserv@listserv.aol.com with the text 'subscribe theatre-sound' and you will receive 10 to 15 e-mails a day on theatre sound topics.

FindSounds	A Useful Site for finding SFX on the Web
Sound Dogs	US based site. Effects, Music, Samples all available. Some free stuff but mostly pay as you go.
Sound Effects Library	UK based. More effect orientated than Sound Dogs and with a good search engine. Also some historical stuff. Pay per effect (roughly £1.50 to £6.00) or a yearly subscription for £399.00.

Live Sound Intl	Live Sound International - US based.
ProSound News	Pro Sound News - european edition.
Sound On Sound	Sound on Sound - aimed more at the recording industry. Good information on MIDI and computer issues. Forums section with loads of useful postings. There is also a searchable links forum.
PLASA	Lighting and Sound International. The journal of the Professional Lighting and Sound Association.
AudioMedia	Audio Media. Aimed more at the Professional Studio and AV world.
