Yamaha DME32 Manager Software                                                back to DME32
The description given below gives an example of the DME software as used for a specific show, in order to give you an idea of how it can be used.
This page is not a definative handbook or manual, which is available as a download from the Yamaha site as a 3016Kb .pdf file.

As used below, the DME replaced four stereo EQs, one reverb unit, five 'one in'/'one out' delay units, and two 'one in'/'two out' delay units.

 DME32 Software Screenshot
The picture above shows a screenshot from the DME Manager configuration. The DME was used as the central processor/distribution unit for a production of 'Evita' in the Regent Theatre, Ipswich, a 1700 seat venue with 1100 stalls seats and 600 seats in the circle which overhangs the rear 5 - 10 rows of the stalls.
The configuration shown has the signals flowing from the yellow input block on the left to the three red output blocks on the right.

DME32 Software Screenshot The components are selected by clicking on the 'Component' heading in the title bar and are then placed on the blue work-surface

DME32 Software Screenshot To edit the parameters of any component, double-clicking on the component displays a box with the relevent paramaters for editing.
DME32 Software Screenshot The top left of the screen shows the DSP meter which indicates how much of the processing power is used by the current set-up (showing 61.1% in this example). Obviously, you cannot have configuration that uses more than 100%.
Also shown is the input block with 8 ins corresponding to the 8 x 1/4" Jack inputs on the rear of the unit.
The black 'cables' connect each input to the next component.

DME32 Software Screenshot The next block of components are the EQs applied to these inputs, and as you see these are marked for the speakers they supply. The green and pink blocks are 31-band EQs, (the top block is a stereo unit). The colour difference is selectable and used in this instance to differentiate between the Stalls and Circle systems.

The red block at the bottom for the Upstage Foldback is a reverb unit.

DME32 Software Screenshot The delay section follows. As you will see, there is a mixture of 1-in, 1-out and 1-in, 2-out blocks. Again, the delays are set by double clicking on each block and can be done in real time using a lap-top and a long RS232 or 422 cable connecting to the DME32.

DME32 Software Screenshot The output blocks correspond to the 12 M XLR connections on the rear of the unit.
