Click Track - 6 - Example - 'Guys and Dolls'

A recording session was arranged which took one of the normal rehearsal evenings. Martyn recorded the singers with 2 Sennheiser MKH20s onto two tracks of the DR4 through a Soundcraft Folio mixer. Peter Snell conducted listening to the click over a set of headphones. The numbers were accompanied by a live piano. Each number was recorded straight through several times. Martyn had copied the recorded click tracks several times on the DR4 one after the other (this is very easy to do – akin to cut and paste editing of sections of text in a word processor) and each take was therefore recorded separately and kept.

Afterwards, he was able to cut and paste the good bits of each take together to produce the final backing track. The society was then given a Mini-Disc copy to rehearse with.
