Click
Track - 1 - What is a click Track? |
A click track is a recorded backing to a live
performance. It can be used either as the entire sound where
the performers mime along, or as an enhancement to the live on-stage
sound. |
|
The recording has two components, which
must be kept separate: - |
- The performance (or backing track) which
the audience will hear and
- The 'click' (click track or timing pulse),
heard by the conductor/musicians and/or the performers.
|
|
As these must be kept separate, you must have
at least a two-track recorder. If you want the backing track
to be in stereo, you must have a three-track recorder. Essentially,
the number of tracks recorded must be the number of tracks that
make up the backing track plus one for the click. |
